20 People Burnt Beyond Recognition as Tanker Explodes In Delta

Not less than 20 persons have been confirmed to have been burnt beyond recognition following a tanker explosion at Ugbenu community section of the Warri-Benin Expressway in Delta state.

The tanker carrying petroleum product exploded around Koko junction, Ugbenu Community in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delts state.

Eyewitnesses who spoke to AFNEWS said that the incident occurred at about 11:30am on Wednesday when the tanker suddenly exploded."The tanker, carrying petroleum product was trying to escape a bad spot when it fell and suddenly exploded between Ugbenu Community and Ologbo section of the Benin/Warri road expressway, the eyewitness said.

Unconfirmed report has it that "More than 20 persons were burnt beyond recognition. About 10 vehicles were trapped in the explosion and most of the victims were occupants of the burnt vehicles.While many suffered various degrees of injuries.
