2023: Differences In The Cost Of Buying Forms In APC, PDP | DETAILS
The All Progressive Congress (APC) recently held the party's NEC meeting where they announced the prices of their expression of interest and nomination forms. A gesture that has caused several reactions.

While the APC are just announcing the prices of purchasing forms to vie for elections into different political offices, you would recall that the major opposition party in the country, the People's Democratic Party had earlier announced theirs.

In this article, we will consider the differences in prices for purchasing forms to contest for elections of the two major political parties, the All Progressive Congress and the People's Democratic Party.

The People's Democratic Party:

The People's Democratic Party, PDP, placed the price for the purchase of forms for aspirants for the office of the presidency at 41 million naira. Even at its price, some aspirants in the party including Bukola Saraki and Atiku Abubakar have already purchased the presidential forms.

For candidates vying for the governorship positions in the party, the PDP have pegged the price of the governorship forms at 21 million naira.

For positions like the Senate, House of Representatives, and House of Assembly, the party puts the price of the forms at 3.5 million naira, 2.5 million naira, and 600 thousand naira, respectively.

The All Progressive Congress:

At the end of the party's NEC meeting which was attended by leaders of the party, the All Progressive Congress put the price of purchasing the presidential expression of interest and nomination forms at a whopping 100 million naira.

A quick mathematical calculation would reveal that the forms being sold by the APC for the presidency are twice more expensive than the price that the PDP are selling.

On the other hand, the forms for the governorship position were placed at 50 million naira, which is more than half the price of the same forms being sold for the same position by the opposition party, the PDP.

Similarly, other positions such as the Senate, the House of Representatives, and House of Assembly forms are being sold by the party for 20 million naira, 10 million naira, and 2 million naira, respectively.

Looking at the prices of the tickets of the two major political parties, one would note that APC forms are twice more expensive than the PDP forms.
