Dave Umahi, Governor of Ebonyi State and one-time All Progressives Congress(APC) Presidential hopeful has won the Ebonyi South Senatorial ticket days after losing to party counterpart, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The politician finished in the sixth place in a tight race for the coveted Presidential seat ahead of the 2023 elections.

Fellow contenders like Rotimi Amaechi, Vice President Osinbajo, Ahmed Lawan, Rochas Okorocha also lost to Tinubu.

In a seeming twist of fate, 58-year-old Umahi has been declared winner in a rescheduled election.

His younger brother, Austin Umahi, had emerged as the winner of the election two weeks ago.

However, the party over ruled the senatorial primary election for Ebonyi South and rescheduled it for Thursday night, June 9th shortly after Umahi lost at the Presidential primary.
