2023: I Will Change Abia In Four Years If Elected - Bishop Emeka Nwankpa
Bishop Emeka Nwankpa has joined the 2023 Abia State governorship tussle on the platform of Accord Party declaring that he is sent on a rescue mission by God.

"My mission and focus will be to change Abia in four years, my input and developmental strides will be felt in all the 17 LGAs of the State. The Abia of our dreams is very possible because it will be actualised using simple methods as easy as ABCD.
"My commitment to Abia development will be 100%. My government will accept no excuses and shall not create room for failures, but will always ignite actions that will help to reposition Abia State"

Bishop Nwankpa decried the fact that after 30 years of its creation, the State has remained grossly underdeveloped. "It is senselessly but dramatically a case if one step forward and two steps backwards.

"How can we explain that after 30 years, Abia State terribly lacks virtually all the basic necessities that qualify an entity as a State to wit: it has no Government House building of its own (it operates from a rented premises), the water taps are ever dry, workers are owed several months of salary arrears, which include the core civil servants, parastatal and agencies, primary and secondary and tertiary institutions, health workers and pensioners", he lamented

According to him, "Our dear State is in dire need of the change they can trust and believe in, they are tired of recycled old and corrupt politicians, 'godfath erism' and revenue leakages, multiple taxation, infrastructural decay, total negligence of our youths (use and dump) and the need to change the entire template of governance that has bedevilled Abia"

Proferring his modus operandus, he added that he will consult widely and create a government that will not only listen to intellectuals and technocrats but will as well meet the needs and aspirations of the youths and women. He further promised to encourage the participation of traditional institutions in governance.

"Given my background, I will never adopt the style of a ruler-ship but will warmly embrace that of a servant-leader to the people. The Abia project is not going to be a lone race, it will attract diverse opinion, aimed at changing our sorry narrative, therefore all hands must be on deck"

He further affirmed that he have "...the drive, the intellectual capacity, the knowledge and wisdom to pursue the dream of a new Abia where accountability be will be my watchword, above all consideration"
