4 MONTHS UNPAID SALARY: UMUAHIA NORTH L.G.A: STAFF RECEIVES A MONTH AND HALF SALARY

Staff of Umuahia North L.G.A says they have started receiving alert of a month and half salary out of the over four month owed them by the authorities of the council.

When Abia Facts News reporters visited the area yesterday, the whole place was still under lock and key as the main gate of the council was barricaded with a palm frond by some aggrieved staff of the local government who were in their black attire outside the main entrance.

Some of the staff who spoke behind camera lamented the level of poverty their members have been subjected to, saying that they have not received any dime from the government.

Some other people spoken to agreed that they have received one month and half salary.

They called on the government to intervene in their plight as to cushion the effect of what non-payments of salaries have brought upon them.

They accused the council boss of working in cahoots with the state government to withhold their salaries, adding that if they refuse to make full payment, the gate will continue to be under lock.

Effort by the reporters to meet the council boss to hear his own side of the story, proved abortive.
