4th Edition Of Igbo International Christmas Retreat To Hold In Abia State On Wednesday.

Abia state will on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 play host to the 4th edition of Igbo International Christmas Retreat at Michael Okpara auditorium Umuahia.

The event is organized by two prominent Igbo organisations; the Igbo Think Tank and Nzuko Ndigbo which are aimed at bringing harmony and peace in Igbo land.

The theme for the 2022 retreat is "Ndigbo Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow" with the sub theme; Ndigbo In Geo-Politics Of Nigeria, The Case Of 2023.

Addressing newsmen ahead of the retreat, Professor Madubuike Ezeibe, Board of Trustee Chairman, Igbo Team Tank, noted that 2022 is a vital year for the event owing to the level of insecurity in the south east and also the birthing of the electioneering year, 2023.

According to Ezeibe, the Igbo organisations will take a stand on the 2023 election at the retreat which will have prominent Igbos home and in the diaspora in attendance.

"We are concerned; we are looking for peace in Nigeria, not just in the south east. Anything we can do, we will do; insecurity affects everyone" he said.

Ezeibe said the Group of 5 (G5) governors are expected at the retreat where the Igbo leaders and stakeholders will interface on the mission and vision of the governors.

Guest speakers expected at the event include, professor Maduike Ezeibe, professor Obasi Igwe, professor Chris Osuagwu and professor Elochukwu Amucheazi.

Others expected are academics, politicians, Igbos in diaspora, traditional rulers, youth, women, students, clergy men, among other peace lovers.
