50-Year-Old Man Remanded For Defiling 4-Year-Old Girl In Ekiti

An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates' Court, on Wednesday, ordered the remand of a 50-year-old man, Usman Tajudeen, in the Ado-Ekiti Correctional Centre for alleged defilement.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Monica Ikebuilo, told the court that the defendant allegedly defiled a four-year-old girl on August 21, 2020, in Ikere-Ekiti.

Ikebuilo said, "The defendant and the victim's parents were neighbours. The victim's mother noticed that blood was coming out from the victim's private parts. When the mother asked her, she confessed that the defendant invited her to his house.

"The offence contravenes Section 31(2) of the Child Right Law of Ekiti State, 2012.ÔÇØ

She urged the court to remand Tajudeen in the correctional centre pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The court did not take the plea of the defendant.

Chief Magistrate Adefumike Anoma adjourned the case till September 18 for mention.

Anoma, in another development, ordered the remand of a 31-year-old man, Ajayi Paul, for allegedly robbing a man of his motorcycle on August 29, 2020, in Ado Ekiti, and adjourned the case till September 18 for mention.
