In a major breakthrough in one of Abia's most chilling community brutality cases, seven members of a disbanded vigilante group in Amangwo Umuigu, Oboro, Ikwuano Local Government Area, have been arrested and detained by operatives of the Abia State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Umuahia, over the abduction and suspected murder of a young man, Solomon Ikoku.

The arrests follow weeks of public outrage and a desperate call for justice after Mrs. Onyekachi Ikoku, mother of the victim, visited the All Facts Newspaper office in Umuahia, narrating in tears how her son was allegedly dragged out of their home, beaten, and taken away by armed men identified as members of the disbanded vigilante group.

"They came around 5 a.m., calling my son's name," Mrs. Ikoku recalled weeping. "Before I could talk, they started beating him. I begged and screamed, but they didn't listen. They took him away, and I haven't seen him since."

The heartbroken mother further revealed that her family has lived in fear since the attack, receiving death threats from some of the alleged perpetrators warning them to stay silent or face deadly consequences.

Community sources told All Facts Newspaper that the Chairman of Amangwo Village Council, Chief Munachi Onwuchekwa, immediately convened an emergency meeting after hearing of the incident. The case was subsequently escalated to the traditional ruler of the community, Eze Larry Ogbonna, and later to the Nigeria Police Force.

Police sources confirmed that investigations have intensified, with the arrested suspects now being held at the State CID Headquarters, Umuahia, for further interrogation.

A senior police officer, who spoke under anonymity, disclosed that "the case is being handled with the seriousness it deserves," assuring that "no one involved will escape justice."

The All Facts Newspaper can authoritatively report that the police have expanded their search to track down other fleeing members of the disbanded vigilante group allegedly linked to Solomon's disappearance.

Meanwhile, the incident has sparked widespread condemnation, with rights groups calling on Governor Alex Otti and the Abia State Commissioner of Police to ensure justice is not compromised.

As investigations continue, the family of Solomon Ikoku has made a passionate appeal to the state government and security agencies to ensure that those responsible for their son's disappearance face the full weight of the law.

"All I want is justice for my only son," Mrs. Ikoku cried. "They took him away alive. I just want to know what happened to him."
