ABANDONED NDDC PROJECTS IN ABIA, CONTRACTORS, MONEY RECEIVED, NEW LIST EMERGE

How indigenous NDDC contractors are ripping off Abia State (2)

Kindly go through this second list of NDDC projects in Abia State and confirm the state of execution in your community. Note that according to NDDC records, they are at different stages of completion with many fully paid for while others are not.

In many communities abandoned or badly executed NDDC road projects are causing gully erosions and floodings to occur near the location of the abandoned projects. A case in point is the recent flooding at Amaogwugwu Ohuhu in Umuahia North LGA that was caused by an abandoned NDDC road project. Similar situation exists everywhere in Abia North and Abia Central areas of the state. Abandoned NDDC projects are causing the emergence of massive gullies over the years.

Umunwanwa-Obizi Achingala Road in Umuahia South LGA was awarded by NDDC and listed as 45% completed. The back story is that the contractor excavated the road, exposed NNPC pipelines and abandoned the road shortly after. A gully soon developed around the abandoned road and has so far led to the loss of two lives in the community including one Mr Nwosu who fell into the gully and died. Some of the roads listed as ongoing or completed by NDDC had to be constructed by the state government, yet, the NDDC contractors collected money from NDDC for doing same work. The final report of the committee will highlight those projects with locations.

Below is another list of NDDC PROJECTS AWARDED IN ABIA STATE. It is important to point out that some contractors did well with the contracts and delivered good quality projects but the preponderance of the listed projects were badly executed or not executed at all. Publication of this list is mainly for your personal verification and not an indictment on any contractor or company. Check the project listed in your community and simply confirm if executed, ongoing or abandoned.
