ABHA Pass Into Law Bill Seeking Right Of Women To Own, Inherit Properties
The 7th Abia State House of Assembly on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 passed into law a bill seeking for right of women to own and inherit properties.

The bill; H.A.B. 61: titled "The Abia State Female Persons Right of Inheritance of Property Bill, 2022", which was sponsored by the speaker of the House, Right Honourable Engineer Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji was passed into law after legislative proceedings.

During plenary, the bill got approval after a motion was moved by the Majority Leader of the House; Solomon Akpulonu (PDP) and seconded by the Minority Leader, Chijioke Chukwu(APC).

With the bill passed into law, women can have equal right with men to get shares of properties.

Recall that recently, governor, Nyesom Wike, approved a similar law in Rivers state.
