ABIA: Age Grade In Abiriba Donates Educational Materials, Register WASSCE For Indigent Student

The Enyioma Ena Otutu Enyi, a league of Friends registered under Onarubi/Ojighirindu Age Grade in Abiriba on Sunday August 9 donated educational materials to schools in Abiriba, the association also paid the School fees of some selected Indigent Student including registration for WASSCE in an attempt to reduce the burden faced by the parents and guardian of these students.

In a press release made available to AFNEWS by a member of the Age Grade Hon.Dimgba Ejieke , he noted that "The Enyioma Ena Otutu a league of friends of the ONARUBI/OJIGHIRINDU Age Grade of Abiriba as part of her selfless services to the community and a post COVID-19 intervention to help parents and students in the public schools donated exercise books,paid up all the school fees arrears of the exam classes (SS3 & JSS3)and refund their parents the WASSCE fees they paid on Sunday 9th of August."

1. Egwuena Girls Secondary School
2. Onarubi junior and Senior Technical Schools
3. Enuda High School

Present at the handover ceremony of the materials to the benefiting Schools are, The Enachioken in Council (all the Ezes - HRM Eze Kalu Kalu Ogbu, Eze Agborji, Eze Ihungwu and members of Agbaezi Palace), Hon. Prince Fred Idika Eke JP* the Ohafia Local Government Transition Committee Chairman (TCC), Members of Ohafia LGA legislative Assembly. Representative of Hon. Mandela Obasi (Representative of Ohafia State Assembly) - Hon Abraham Dasuki - PDP ward chairman Abiriba. Representative of Hon. Uko Nkole ( Honourable member representing Ohafia federal constituency) to mention but a few.

While speaking during the ceremony, the group's leader Mr Akanu Okoro said " the idea behind the project is to help the parents whose source of living must have been hit by the COVID-19 pandemic and to challenge the students to work harder as the best graduating students from the schools will be given scholarship to further their education.He also thanked the Enachioken in council for their efforts in the peace and progress of the community and the Local Government Chairman for his listening ears and good leadership"

The Enachioken of Abiriba kingdom,HRM Eze kalu kalu Ogbu whose palace was used for the event thanked the members of the Enyioma Ena Otutu Enyi for such a gesture and selfless service. He called on all other Individuals and groups to emulate such initiative for community development.He went further to pray for God to bless,keep and prosper every member of the league of friends.

Hon Prince Idika , the Transition Committee Chairman of Ohafia who spoke on behalf of the local government thanked the members and assured them of the council's readiness to always partner with them in providing meaningful services to the community and help to build the State.

He also used the opportunity to inform the community leaders of the Governor Okezie Ikpeazu's administration's efforts through the local government to ensure the schools in Abiriba are cleared and fumigated to prevent the spread of coronavirus as the students are set to return to school and called on the community to come out and help in the clearing of the schools as most schools have become so busy.
