The Abia State Government has called on landowners in Nsulu, Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area, to actively participate in the ongoing enumeration exercise for the proposed Abia Airport project or risk missing out on compensation.

Chief of Staff to Governor Alex Otti, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, made the announcement during an expanded meeting with government officials and committees representing the Nsulu landowners. He emphasized that the exercise is critical to identifying legitimate landowners to ensure fair compensation for their lands and economic trees.

In a significant move to address community concerns, Governor Otti has approved a further reduction of the airport land size from 1,325 hectares to 1,025 hectares. This decision follows appeals from host communities, reinforcing the administration's commitment to inclusive governance.

Pastor Ajagba described the Abia Airport project as a game-changer, poised to bring immense economic benefits to the state. He urged members of the various airport committees to collaborate with the government in reconfirming the land adjustment, engaging actively, and sensitizing local communities on the project's benefits.

Speaking on behalf of their respective committees, Chairman of the Abia Airport Technical Committee, Dr. Chibuzor Emeruwa, Chairman of the MoU Drafting Committee, Rt. Hon. Uzo Azubuike, Chairman of the Community Relations Committee, Rev. Israel Ukaoma, and Chairman of the Media/Publicity Affairs Committee, Prince Clinton Uba, lauded Governor Otti's decision. They pledged their full support in ensuring the seamless execution of the project.

With the enumeration process underway, landowners have been urged to seize this opportunity to validate their claims, as failure to comply could mean exclusion from the compensation framework.
