The Abia State Government has commenced the clearing of the access road leading to the runway of the proposed Nsulu Airport in Isiala Ngwa North, marking a significant step forward in the long-anticipated aviation project.

During an inspection visit to the project site at Umuala Nsulu, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of Governor Alex Otti's administration to delivering the airport in partnership with the federal government. He dismissed earlier misinformation, clarifying that landowners and host communities are fully in support of the project.

Pastor Ajagba praised the host communities for their cooperation and reassured them that compensations for landowners have already begun. He emphasized the need for contractors to maintain transparency by working closely with locals to ensure smooth implementation.
The Special Assistant to the Governor on Land and Housing, who also serves as the Project Coordinator for the Abia Airport Project, described the clearing of the access road as a major milestone. According to him, this will facilitate soil testing and other critical evaluations for the runway. He revealed that the clearing is expected to be completed within a week.
The leader of the Government Land Owners Forum, Rt. Hon. Uzor Azubuike, commended Governor Otti for responding to community concerns by reducing the land acquisition size from 1,800 hectares to 1,000 hectares. He noted that this move demonstrates the administration's commitment to due process and fairness.

Barr. Andrew Obinna Ijenri and other stakeholders echoed similar sentiments, expressing satisfaction with the government's sincerity in the land acquisition process and its efforts to ensure that affected landowners are adequately compensated.

Youths, women, and traditional leaders from Nsulu communities expressed excitement over the project's progress, pledging their full support and cooperation to ensure its successful execution.
The manager of Craneburg Construction Company, Seba El-Nemer, appreciated the governor and the Nsulu community for their collaboration. He assured that his company would deliver high-quality work while engaging both skilled and unskilled laborers from the host communities to enhance local economic benefits.
