Abia ALGON Elects New Leaders: Hon. Chinedu Ekeke Takes Charge as Chairman

The newly elected Executive members of the Abia State Chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) have been inaugurated, with a call to prioritize transparency, accountability, and effective governance.

The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Uzor Nwachukwu, presided over the ceremony held at his office, describing the election as a significant step toward strengthening local governance in the state.

Speaking at the event, Prince Nwachukwu congratulated the new executives, emphasizing that their emergence reflects their leadership capabilities and the confidence their colleagues have in them.

"Your leadership presents a promising chapter for grassroots development in Abia. I urge you to work collaboratively with the state government under the leadership of Governor Alex Otti to deliver meaningful impact to the people,ÔÇØ Nwachukwu stated.

The elections saw Hon. Chinedu Ekeke, Mayor of Isuikwuato Local Government Area, emerge as the ALGON Chairman with unanimous support from all 17 local government heads in the state. Dr. Anthony Nwaubani of Ikwuano was elected Secretary, while Mr. Anyanwu Obilor, Mayor of Aba South, clinched the Treasurer position.

In his acceptance speech, Hon. Chinedu Ekeke pledged to foster a unified ALGON focused on advancing development at the grassroots level. "Our commitment to transparency and accountability will define this administration,ÔÇØ he said.

The inauguration signals a renewed focus on grassroots development, as Governor Alex Otti has pledged full support for local government efforts.
