ABIA ASSEMBLY CRISES: PDP Set For Legal Firework, Serves Clerk With Three Months Pre-Action Notice | SEE DOC

The legislative battle in the Abia State House of Assembly (ABHA) is getting more tensed, as the 11 legislators of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) have served the Clerk Pedro Irokansi a Three Months Pre-Action Notice over the crises surrounding the emergence of principal officers.

Recall that the crises began when Labour Party (LP) produced the Majority Leader, Deputy Majority Leader, Chief Whip and Deputy Whip claiming they have an alliance with the Young Progressive Party (YPP) and All Progressive Congress (APC) members in the House making them the majority.

The PDP objected to the alliance insisting that they have the majority with 11 members, LP 10 members, YPP 2 members and APC 1 member. They posited that alliance does not have a place in determining the party that is the majority in the House.

The PDP lawmakers have since threaten to go to court to seek interpretation of the law as regards the majority of the House.

In the Three Months Pre-Action Notice, the PDP Lawmakers are demanding that the clerk and the Speaker of the House should respect the standing rule of the Assembly by announcing members of the PDP as Majority Leader, Deputy Majority Leader, Majority Whip and Deputy Majority Whip or face legal action.
