ABIA: Finally, AFNEWS reveals the likely reason why SAM ONUIGBO abandoned the PDP for APC

Although the honourable member is yet to officially disclose the reason why he abandoned the party on whose platform he was elected to the green chambers ,but fillers from people who are conversant with happenings in his constituency especially his Ikwuano Local Government Area suggest he left as a result of injustice and disrespect meted out to his person by the PDP in Abia.

It is believed that the PDP structure in Ikwuano LGA has been hijacked by Col.Augustine Akobundu(Rtd) the National Organizing Secretary of the PDP who is alleged to have singlehandedly produced the entire ward executives of the 10 federal wards of Ikwuano as,well as the Local government excos while Onuigbo was sidelined in the skim of things during the last PDP congress.

It is alleged that despite protest by Sam Onuigbo for the PDP leaders in Abia to intervene and correct what he regarded as injustice nothing was done and Col.Akobundu(Rtd) was allowed to have his way.

Although Sam Onuigbo was not happy with this development, as a party man he is believed to have allowed the National Organizing Secretary to have his way believing he will be compensated during the PDP primaries for Local Government Chairmanship/Councillorship in Ikwuano LGA, it is believed that this did not happen, the same method that was used during the PDP Ward/LGA elective congress was used to produce the Councillorship candidates for the 19 ABSIEC ward including Onuigbo's Iberee Ward 1 and once again Col Akobundu won and Onuigbo lost,and the PDP did not to remedy or address his complain.

For many observes and participants in Umuahia/Ikwuano politics the defection of Sam Onuigbo yesterday from the PDP to the APC is a clear sign of protest against his alienation and non recognition by the PDP in Abia and his Ikwuano Local government Area.
