ABIA: Finally, Sam Onuigbo Reveals Why He Abandoned PDP For APC | READ DETAILS

The Member Representing Umuahia/ Ikwuano Federal Constituency, Hon. Sam Onuigbo has broken his silence on the reason for his defection from the PDP to the APC.
Hon Onuigbo who is the first member to run twice in the House of Representative under the PDP, announced his defection on Thursday 17th December, 2020, which led to people wondering why?

According to Onuigbo, he left PDP because of injustice and the ill treatments meted out on him by the party. He stated that he was sidelined in the sharing of positions in the state and local government while his colleagues were accommodated. This he said is contrary to the party's agreement.

He said, " we had a meeting on 18th February, where the idea of zoning was mentioned, then we set up a Congress Committee for further meeting to provide guidelines on how to do the zoning.

" We came back on 1st March to receive report of the congress.
" At that meeting, resolutions were that all offices were going to be zoned out. Issue of zoning was discussed excessively and agreed upon.
" In Umuahia South, position of Chairman was zoned from Olokoro to Ubakala, Umuahia North from Ohuhu to Ibeku, but in Ikwuano, the National Organizing Secretary Col. Augustine Akobundu (rtd) said it was going no where. The only two people from Ikwuano who attended that meeting then was he and I.
"when we came to sharing of State positions, my colleagues with whom I am serving in the National Assembly who are from Abia, got state positions. One got Deputy Chairman , the other got Youth Chairman, They came to Ikwuano Umuahia, the senator got treasurer but myself was denied everything.

All my protests are in letters. I wrote to the National State Chairman, I copied the former VP Atiku Abubakar, Senator T.A. Orji, the Minority Leader in the Senate, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, and the Minority leader in the House of Reps.

He also mentioned that he visited the Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu and Senator Orji Kalu on the matter. "...the governor promised to look into it but unfortunately he fell sick. By the time the Governor came back, it was already published showing that me as a Member of the House of Reps, I didn't contribute a single person in the PDP LGA Excos of Ikwuano. Not one, not ex official."

According to Onuigbo, he made genuine efforts concerning the matter but was told that everything was closed and nothing could be done.

He debunked the allegation that he defected because his candidate who is from his clan was not selected. " there was nobody from my clan that ran for Ikwuano LGA Chairmanship." He also refuted the allegation that he left the party because he asked for a 3rd term run but was not obliged.

He asked those manufacturing rumors not to sweep the truth under the carpet.
