[Abia]: Former DSS Director, Raymond Nkemdirim Calls For The Establishment Of Isuikwuato Security Trust Fund

The former DSS Director of Operations, Chief Raymond Nkemdirim has called on all well-meaning sons and daughters of Isuikwuato to pull resources together for the fight against the recent hike in criminality within the area.

Recall that in past days, there have been continuous reports on the activities of the bandits along the Isuikwuato axis, which had claimed lives and led to many speaking and reacting on the issue. Notable among who have reacted is the Executive Governor of the State, one time Army Chief of Staff, the L.G.A. boss among others. The matter has also attracted the reaction of one of the sons of the soil and a security expert, Chief Raymond Nkemdirim.

Speaking during security organized by Flo FM in partnership with AF NEWS on Monday, the former DSS Director recalled that in 2017, he presented a lead paper during a security summit that held in Isuikwuato, where he highlighted the security situations in the area and further cautioned that extra vigilante must be ensured to rid Isuikwuato of any illegal settlement that may serve as a breeding ground for criminals. The former DSS director observed that things have gone wrong in the area as a result of the absence of good measures after the 2017 security summit in the area. An issue, which should warrant a second look at the 2017 security submit lead paper and the recommendations contained in it, among which, is the issue of establishing the Isuikwuato Security Trust Fund. He noted that establishing this fund is very important to complement the efforts of the government in the fight against insecurity in the area, advising that efforts should not stop at establishing the trust fund but the need for rapid development in the area as there will be no security without development.

Further speaking, Chief Raymond noted the need for a joint effort with the Isuikwuato Development Union to pull the vigilante groups together to comb the bushes and bring out these criminals while advising that these bushes should no longer serve as a hiding place for the bandits.

He maintained that both the traditional rulers and the citizens of the area have much to do in the area of providing vital information and uncovering illegal strangers within the community. The former DSS Director also noted that there are other methods, which will not be revealed in a public setting but called for the support and encouragement of all.

The security expert also called for a thorough check on all the access points leading into the area as they have become porous for all kinds of movement while advising the government to intensify efforts in creating jobs for the teaming unemployed youths within the area.
