Abia Govt bans bush burning as former NYSC camp burns down

Former Abia State NYSC camp which is known as Nsulu games Village located at Isiala Ngwa North Local Government area has been razed by fire, the fire started around 11 am, several buildings within the complex were burnt down including homes of residents.

Eyewitness who visited the scene of the incident said, men of the state fire service arrived the scene of the inferno around 3:21 pm.

As at the time of filing this report the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained and no life was reportedly lost but properties worth millions of naira were razed in the unfortunate incident.

In response to the recent increase in fire incidents in Abia State, the state government have banned bush burning.

In a press release made available to AFNews and signed by Abia State Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi kalu, he made it clear that the ban became necessary to protect lives and property from avoidable fire disasters as well as preserve natural habitat.
