The Accord Party governorship candidate in Abia State, Bishop Dr Emeka Nwankpa, has dismissed the rumour of his withdrawal from the March 11, 2023 governorship race and described it as the handiwork of those afraid of the name - 'Emeka Nwankpa and the Accord Party'.
The revered cleric and philanthropist made this known to newsmen over the weekend and said he was confident of victory. According to him, "I am not just contesting the 2023 governorship election, I am contesting to win and save Abia from its backward state. The rumour that I have withdrawn from the election is the handiwork of those who are afraid of Bishop Emeka Nwankpa and Accord Party. I am determined to win the election, and no amount of rumour sponsored by political businessmen who have contributed to running Abia down will stop my victory. I urge Ndi Abia to remain determined and disregard the rumour."

In his words, "The official flag-off of the campaign of the Accord Party will come up soon, and we shall use the opportunity to present our manifesto to the good people of Abia State. We are going to change the ugly story of Abia State and put the State on the path to speedy progress and development. Our determination to make Abia take its pride of place as the number one State in Nigeria is sacrosanct. God willing, Bishop Emeka Nwankpa is the next Governor of Abia State. Be assured of that."

Laughing over the false rumour of his withdrawal for the governorship candidate of the ADC, he said, 'Nothing could be funnier than this rumour. How can I step down for someone whose party (ADC) says he is not their candidate? Even if he were in the race, I am tens of miles away from him. Does the tail ever lead the head? The Accord Party has already taken over every political space in Abia State. In a few weeks from now, we are going to make a loud statement.
Asked what his priorities would be if elected, Bishop Emeka Nwankpa said his first assignments would be to return Abia State to God and put Abia on the pedestal of growth and development.
