Abia: How Policemen Allegedly Killed Young Man In Umuahia Over Land | SEE PHOTOS

Some Policemen attached with the Abia State Police Command, have allegedly killed a young man identified only as KC over land issue.

The incident happened on Wednesday, August 25, around 9am, at Agbama Olokoro in Umuahia, the capital city of the state.

According to an eye witness, some of the villagers engaged in an argument with one Mr Okwudiri who is also a native of the community claiming that he owns some of the lands located at Agbama Olokoro and that he has a court order restraining people from trespassing.

He was said to have left and returned with some Police officers and other unidentified men who started shooting sporadically to disperse villagers. In the process, a stray bullet hit KC who was returning from the church.

Residents of the area also claimed that the police and the thugs which Okwudiri brought with him, broke into their homes and carted away with their money and cell phones.

Reacting to the incident, the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Geoffrey Ogbonna said that the Police officers were called to assist in providing security to court bailiffs in executing a court order in that area, adding that the villagers mobilized to attack the police and court officials.

According to him, a shootout occurred as a result of the people attacking the officials who came to effect a court order. He said, during the shootout, a life was lost from a stray bullet.

The PPRO however denied that the policemen took peoples belongings.
