Abia Judicial Panel: Man Narrates How Sergeant Collins Apugo Killed His Brother In Umuahia

A man, Kenneth Onuoha, has accused a police sergeant identified as Collins Apugo of Ehimmiri Police Station in Umuahia for killing his brother Chukwubuikem Onuoha.

He stated this on Wednesday at the Abia State Judicial Panel of Inquiry saying that Sergeant Collins Apugo shot his brother two times in his chest as they were coming back from a youth meeting.

Kenneth stated that Sergeant Collins shot at them but the deceased pushed him out of the way and the bullet hit him.

When they tried helping the deceased, Sergeant Collins warned that anybody that comes closed will be dealt with. The deceased kept moving while shouting and Sergeant Collins shot him directly at his chest this time around and ran away.

Chukwubuikem was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Umuahia while he kept shouting 'Sergeant Collins have killed me'. It was confirmed at the hospital that Chikwubuikem was dead.

Reporting the incident to the police station, DPO advised the family to bury the corpse since they 'already knew who killed him.' A publication was put up by the police on Daily Trust placing a 'warrant' on Sergeant Collins.

Sergeant Collins' rifle was recovered at his hometown in Isuikwuato where he ran to and have not been seen.

The deceased was laid to rest on the 17th of October, 2019.
