Abia Lawmakers Storm Aba; Accesses Condition Of Roads In The Commercial City

Members of the Abia state house of assembly led by the speaker Rt.Hon. Chinedum Orji on Wednesday 17th November, 2021 in carrying out its oversight function paid a visit to Aba, the commercial nerve centre of the state. The lawmakers were in the city to have a first-hand assessment of the conditions of roads in the commercial city.

While assessing the conditions of the roads in the city, especially Faulks Road and Ngwa road, the speaker who spoke on behalf of the lawmakers assured the residents that as a legislative arm of government, they will interface with the executive to ensure that the road is fixed. He said as their representatives they feel their pains and worries, he however assured them that they will ensure that the governors promise to recommence work on the road is reneged.

The Abia legislature also expressed its intention to summon the various contractors handling various road projects in the city to appear before them and give a progress report of the various roads they are working. The lawmakers appealed to be patient with government, assuring that work with recommence on the various roads, immediately after the raining season.

Recall that Nigerian Bar Association (Aba Chapter) recently released a press statement where they stated that they will embark on protest in Aba over the condition of the roads in the commercial city.
