Abia North Deserves New Leadership - Emeka Charles Kalu Unveils 2027 Senatorial Ambition

Abia politics is already heating up ahead of 2027 as seasoned politician and humanitarian, Chief Emeka Charles Kalu, has openly declared his intention to contest for the Abia North Senatorial seat.

In an exclusive interview with Daily Independent Newspaper, Chief Kalu, who is the Director-General of Global Initiatives For Good Governance (GIGG) and President of ECK Foundation, made it clear that his ambition is not driven by greed or personal enrichment, but by a burning desire to deliver genuine representation to the people of Abia North.

Speaking with conviction, he said poor representation, infrastructural neglect, youth unemployment and weak legislative leadership have pushed him to seek the mandate of the people.

"My ambition to run for Abia North Senate seat isn't borne out of greed or desperation to enrich myself. The mandate belongs to the people, and without their will, nothing meaningful can be achieved. I want to bring a change because our zone deserves better,ÔÇØ Kalu emphasized.

The former PDP chieftain explained that his exit from the party was to enable him concentrate on humanitarian services through his Foundation. However, he maintained that he would align politically when the time is right, noting that his vision aligns with the remarkable infrastructural strides of Governor Alex Otti.

On his legislative agenda, Kalu promised to sponsor bills on infrastructure, youth empowerment, electoral reforms, and security. He pledged to work tirelessly with colleagues across party lines to deliver meaningful legislation that will transform both Abia North and Nigeria at large.

Infrastructure: rehabilitating decayed roads across the five LGAs of Abia North and ensuring improved electricity and community security.

Youth Empowerment & Agriculture: leveraging his ECK Foundation model to empower youths, support farmers with seedlings, and boost local businesses.

Healthcare & Education: building cottage hospitals across wards, prioritizing maternal and child health, expanding scholarships and educational support.

Constitutional & Electoral Reform: pushing for amendments to strengthen democracy, fiscal federalism, and transparency in leadership.

Kalu also attacked what he described as the "hypocrisy of current representation,ÔÇØ insisting that the zone needs a bold voice in the Red Chamber.

"Our youths are wallowing in poverty while being deceived with false claims of empowerment. I want to end this cycle of insincerity. Abia North must see the difference between empty promises and real representation,ÔÇØ he declared.

With a grassroots reputation built over years of philanthropy and governance advocacy, Chief Emeka Charles Kalu said he is ready to answer the call of the people and restore dignity to Abia North in 2027.
