Abia Oil Community Congratulates Governor-Elect, Alex Otti

The Umuorie Community in the Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State has congratulated the Governor-elect of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti for emerging victorious in the recent election held in the State.

It should be recalled that Otti was declared Governor-elect by the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC, after he polled 175,467 votes to defeat his closest rival Okey Ahiwe of the People's Democratic Party, PDP, who scored 88,529 votes.

In the congratulatory message signed by Chief Lazarus Enwereuzor, Leader, Isimiri-Vanguard, and Mr. Onyebuchi Ojiji, Vice President, Umuorie Town Union, in conjunction with the traditional ruler, HRH, Eze Innocent U. Nkwocha, Miri 1 of Isimiri, on behalf of the people of Umuorie, the Community described Otti's victory as well deserved, adding, "it is not only phenomenal but marks a total turn-around from business as usual to a greater hope for God's own State and Umuorie in particular".

Continuing, the message reads, "We salute your courage, tenacity, doggedness, resilience, and determination with which you pursued, overtook, conquered, and recovered all".

The Community noted with satisfaction that the Governor-elect was not deterred nor discouraged by previous attempts that could not yield positive results, and prayed to God to increase his wisdom, and knowledge and give him the favor to steer the ship along a glorious path.

The Umuorie Community, which is the second largest oil and gas producing Community in Ukwa West, has had nothing to show for its contribution to the 13% oil derivation that accrues to Abia State.
