Abia Panel of Inquiry: Lawyer Explains How He Was Brutalized By Isuikwuato Police DPO

The Abia State Panel of Inquiry on police brutality, harassment and extrajudicial killing picked up steam today when a legal practitioner and a petitioner Alagbe Kalu Uche narrated how he was assaulted by the DPO of Isiukwuato Police Station, Asuquo Inyang Inyang Abia State.

The Complainant stated that he had gone to secure the release of his client Mr Chidi Ugorji who was detained over a family dispute on the 26th of July, 2020.

He was accused of recording the conference the DPO was having with his client and his kinsmen and was assaulted by one Inspector Chukwudi Ihediwa, Grace Akpan, and the DPO, Asuquo Inyang Inyang of Isiukwuato police division and his phone's memory card taken.

Kalu Uche stated that one Inspector Grace Akpan who had an artificial nails used it to scratch his face as they struggled and his clothes torn.

The matter was adjourned for the petitioners to bring more evidence.
