The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Umuahia North Local Government Area, Abia State, is embroiled in a fresh controversy following the purported suspension of Hon. Emeka Isaac Ejiogu, a two-term member of the Abia State House of Assembly. Emeka Ejiogu has fired back at the party leadership, describing his suspension as a plot driven by blackmail, internal betrayal, and vested interests.

In a strongly worded letter addressed to the PDP Chairman of Umuahia North LGA, Hon. Bright Omesue, Ejiogu dismissed the allegations of anti-party activities leveled against him, stating that they were baseless and aimed at tarnishing his hard-earned reputation.

A Loyal PDP Stakeholder Under Attack?
Ejiogu, a founding member of the PDP since 1999 and one of its principal stakeholders, expressed shock over his suspension, questioning why he would be accused of working against the party when he delivered PDP victories in his polling unit in the 2023 general elections. He pointed out that INEC records would confirm his claims, whereas those behind his suspension could not secure wins in their respective units.

"It beats my imagination how these blackmailers can brazenly accuse me of anti-party activities. Did I connive to let other parties win in my polling unit? What exactly is my offence?" Ejiogu queried.
Exposing the 'Masquerades' Behind the Suspension

Emeka Ejiogu further alleged that the masterminds of his suspension-including former PDP Treasurer Prince Ben Okezie, Hon. Ugochukwu Ezeocha, Chief Uche Aguoru, and the LGA Chairman Bright Omesue-failed to win elections in their polling units.

"Prince Ben Okezie, who hosted the so-called disciplinary meeting in his beer parlour, could not win his A1 Naogwugwu polling unit for PDP. Hon. Ugochukwu Ezeocha, who contested for the House of Assembly, lost woefully in his polling unit and ward. The LGA Party Chairman, Hon. Bright Omesue, also failed in his unit," he stated.
He went on to compare his leadership tenure with that of Okezie, noting that while he maintained the monthly constituency meetings during his time in office, the party declined significantly under Okezie's leadership.

Suspension Meeting Held in a Beer Parlour?

One of the most shocking revelations in Ejiogu's response was the venue of the purported disciplinary meeting. According to him, the meeting was initially scheduled to hold at Uche Aguoru's residence but was later relocated to a beer parlour owned by Prince Ben Okezie.
Emeka Ejiogu, who was only given a two-hour notice via WhatsApp, said he arrived at the original venue on time but found it deserted. He later learned that the meeting had been moved without informing him, denying him the opportunity to defend himself.

"So accusing me of non-appearance at the purported Disciplinary Committee meeting is most uncharitable and reveals a prearranged plan to deny me fair representation and hearing," he argued.

Challenging His Accusers to Prove Their Allegations

Emeka Ejiogu did not stop at disputing the legitimacy of his suspension; he openly challenged his accusers to produce evidence of their own electoral successes. He specifically called out:

A Call for Justice and Party Unity
Despite the controversy, Emeka Ejiogu urged the LGA Chairman to handle party matters with fairness and objectivity, warning that personal vendettas should not be allowed to destroy the PDP in Umuahia North. He emphasized that party unity and electoral success should take precedence over personal interests.
