ABIA: RTLA Partners P.A.Y, OFIAR To Conduct Free Health Outreach, PVC Registration |WATCH VIDEO

Non partisan organisations, Ready To Lead Africa (RTLA), Organisation for Impact and Reform (OFIAR), Progressives Abia Youth (P.A.Y), and others, have commenced a free health care outreach and Permanent Voters Registration (PVC) in the 17 Local Government Areas of Abia State.

The project 'Ready To Vote (Sorom Tuo), kick started in Umuawa Alaocha in Umuahia North LGA of Abia State, on Tuesday, February 15, 2022.

Speaking to ALL FACTS NEWSPAPER (AFNEWS), the President, Ready To Lead Africa, Godbless Otugbure, said the exercise was to encourage locals to register and get their PVCs ahead of the 2023 election and also get their health status checked.

"what we are doing here today as a partner to this coalition, we are literarily helping to register more people in Abia state to have their PVC. So far, the data showing on INEC portal is saying that since last year until now, we have less than 60,000 people that have registered for their PVC in Abia state and that is not a good number when you look at the fact that we have an election coming up in 2023."

According to him, they are working with local and international partners to ensure that voter registration are conducted 'to deepen the practice of democracy' in Abia state and Nigeria at large.

Speaking also, the President, Progressives Abia Youth, Kingsley Ekejiuba expressed joy on the enthusiasm and willingness displayed by community members to benefit from the outreach. He assured that the project which is completely free will be dispersed to other communities and local governments in the state till the end of the National PVC registration process (June 2022).

Ekejiuba who doubles as the Leader of OFIAR, Abia State Chapter, advised Abians to embrace the opportunity and get registered to have the license to exercise their franchise in 2023 for a better Abia.

Organisations sponsoring the outreach include; African Primary Health Care Foundation, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), The Nigerian Physician Advocacy Group (NPAG), 100 Igbos USA Inc, etc.
