In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, on Monday, the government described the rumor as the handiwork of political propagandists unsettled by the Governor's rising popularity and performance record across party lines.

"The report is nothing but a fabrication by political propagandists who are unsettled by the Governor's consistent delivery of good governance and his growing popularity. It is a desperate attempt to distract the people of Abia and sow seeds of confusion where none exists,ÔÇØ the statement read.

Prince Kanu reaffirmed that Governor Otti remains a proud and loyal member of the Labour Party, the platform under which the people of Abia overwhelmingly elected him in 2023. He stressed that the Governor's focus remains firmly on service, accountability, and rebuilding Abia, not on political gamesmanship.

The statement further reminded the public that during the October edition of "Governor Alex Otti Speaks to Abians,ÔÇØ the Governor himself clarified that he has no interest in political defections or permutations, emphasizing that his commitment is to the people, not political convenience.
