Abia State government and traditional rulers honor the late Eze Ukandu, remembering his contributions to Abia's growth, unity among leaders, and his lasting impact on the community.

The Abia State government has paid tribute to the former Chairman of the Abia State Council of Ndi Eze, HRM Eze Ezo Ukandu, Enyi Na Obiangwu of Imenyi Kingdom in Isuikwuato Local Government Area, honoring his legacy and contributions to the state's development. Eze Ukandu, a foundational figure in Abia State's creation and a respected leader, passed away at 87.

At JAAC House in Umuahia, traditional rulers gathered to receive the body of the revered monarch. Prince Nnamdi Elekwachi, Director of Chieftaincy Affairs in Abia's Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, extolled Eze Ukandu as one of the most prominent traditional rulers in Igbo land. Speaking on behalf of the ministry, Elekwachi highlighted the monarch's lifelong contributions to Abia's development across various sectors, including industry, education, transportation, and community welfare.

Present Abia State Council of Traditional Rulers Chairman, Eze Linus Nto Mba, praised Eze Ukandu as a role model for other traditional rulers, whose legacy promoted peace and unity. "His leadership and commitment to fostering love among rulers will remain a guiding principle for generations,ÔÇØ Eze Mba noted.

Other traditional rulers, including Eze Uwakwe Ukaegbu, Eze Nzeneata Mbakwe, and Eze Nelson Mmerengwa, expressed their profound loss, affirming Eze Ukandu's place as an irreplaceable leader within Abia's traditional institution.

The ministry urged Eze Ezo Ukandu's children to uphold the exemplary values and peace-centered legacy he established.

In a solemn conclusion, the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, held a commendation service at JAAC House, honoring Eze Ukandu's dedication to faith and community as a Knight of the Church.
