Abia State House of Assembly Set Up Committee to Visit Ohafia General Hospital

The Abia state House of Assembly led by The Speaker Rt Hon. Chinedum Orji has mandated it's committee on health to visit the Ohafia General Hospital so as to ascertain the deplorable condition of the hospital which is own by the government.
Investigation by AFNEWS revealed that the hospital has been in deplorable situation which made it difficult for people to access medical care. The setting up of the Committee became essential after the house received the submission of the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon Ifeanyi Uchendu, who raised the issue of the deplorable state of the hospital as a Matter of Urgent Public Importance and enlighten his colleagues on the need to refurbish the Ohafia General Hospital.

According to the deputy speaker Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Uchendu the situation of the hospital is now a source of major concern to the People of the Area. Therefore it became necessary that the government should do everything possible to refurbish the hospital .
The plenary of the house on 6th July which AFNEWS monitored revealed that after much deliberation on the issue, the House took an unanimous decision to mandate the House Committee on Health to visit the hospital and report back to the House for further legislative activities .

Also during the plenary , The Speaker read a letter from the Office of the Governor of Abia State seeking for an amendment and a downward review of the 2020 Budget passed by the House. Also made available to AFNEWS is a Letter from the Office of the Governor signed by the deputy Governor reappointing the 17 Transition Committee Chairmen/Deputies for the Local Government Areas of Abia State.
Before adjourning plenary , Hon Emeka Okoroafor brought three Petitions from three different Groups to the House over the planned relocation of the High Court of Asa to Aba.On is a Petition from Asa Development Union signed by the Chairman and Secretary on the concern of the people over the planned relocation of the High Court to Aba.
They argued that there is need for more High Courts for Ukwa East and West but unfortunately, the people now find themselves in a situation where the one they have is about to be taken away.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji committed the petitions to the house committee on Judiciary.
