A fresh controversy has erupted in Abia State's transport sector, as allegations against Ephraim Tochi Promise, popularly known as TOCHI, are now being exposed as a calculated attempt to blackmail him and force him out of favor with the state government.

Recently, a viral video surfaced online, where a group of individuals claimed that Tochi and his men attacked them, destroyed their buses, and extorted money from them in the name of park levies. The video sparked public outrage, raising concerns about the operations of the transport sector in the state.

However, in a dramatic twist, another group of transport workers, identified as the Abia Unity Drivers, has stepped forward to debunk the claims, describing them as a desperate move to frame Tochi and wrestle control of the parks from him.

Speaking on behalf of the Abia Unity Drivers, their chairman, Comrade Chukwudi, insisted that Tochi's operations have been lawful, peaceful, and well-organized. He stated that the transport workers under his leadership, who operate between Umuahia and Aba, have no issues with Tochi and, in fact, appreciate his work.

"The people spreading these false allegations are not genuine drivers. They are being used by some interests who want Tochi out of the way so they can take over the parks," he said.

Chukwudi emphasized that Tochi and his workers do not roam the streets demanding money from drivers, nor do they engage in acts of violence. Instead, the dispute is a result of power struggles over who controls the transport parks.

"We will not allow our union to be dragged into falsehood. We are already preparing a petition to the police against those impersonating us and trying to tarnish Tochi's image," he warned.

As the controversy unfolds, many are calling on the Abia State Government to investigate the allegations thoroughly and ensure that politically motivated blackmail does not derail the transport sector's stability.
