Abia(VIDEOS): Hon Ichita Reveals The Poor State Of Port Harcourt Road In Aba

The member representing Aba South State constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, has again reacted to the poor status of the Port Harcourt by cemetery road in Aba, the commercial city of the state.

In a series of videos recorded by the Honorable member and shared on his Facebook page, residents were seen decrying the poor status of the road which leads to Cemetery market, one of the popular markets and revenue generating area.

Some of the residents alleged that the people in charge of constructing the roads were excavating sands and old coal tar which they sell instead of working on the dilapidated road, adding that no construction work is currently ongoing.

According to one of the residents, heap of dirt caused flood to envelop his house causing him to loose his properties which made him to construct a barricade. He also claimed that the shop which he built during the old Imo state, was demolished without compensation which up till now, nothing has been built and the spot which has now turned to a refuse dump.

The Honorable on his Facebook page wrote;

Yesterday (Sunday), I set out to visit some roads that are "under construction" in Aba South constituency.

I observed that the sanitary condition of the environment and the living condition of our people have been reduced to a record low.

Many businesses have been shut down and many people are left to live and eat beside rubbish, literarily.

It is practically impossible to visit more than two roads in a day due to the extreme nature of the terrain occasioned by years of abandonment by the state government.

It is sad that these videos are the actual reflection of the true state of our roads.

Remember that 56 Million US dollars was received from the World Bank in 2017 for the construction of these roads

There is an urgent need for a Town Hall Meeting

Recall that on June 28, Ichita presented the nature of the road before the House of Assembly during plenary, stating that members of his constituents were living with over 15 tons of refuse which was threatening their health condition.

"Anyone driving to my constituency from Aba main park, will notice a very huge mountain of refuse at Port Harcourt road by cemetery road by Asa road. If you drive further and get to the school we know as National High school Aba, we have over 15 tons of refuse left untouched".
