President Muhammadu Buhari has urged the national team, Super Eagles to raise the nation's flag high at the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations(AFCON) by lifting the prized trophy in Cameroon.

The Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, extended the president's message at a 'send forth' ceremony organized for the team on Tuesday in Abuja ahead of their departure to Cameroon today.

Dare who was represented by the Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Clem Agba, declared President Buhari had pledged the full support of the nation for the team, acknowledging the unwavering faith in the talents and skills of the team that will set them apart in Cameroun.

The minister charged the players to show the Nigerian spirit of determination in their quest for a fourth AFCON trophy.

"We are also appealing to you to demonstrate the Nigerian spirit of determination, focus, resilience, discipline and conquest on and off the pitchÔÇØ.

"You have to believe in yourselves, be confident in your abilities and show trust in your coaches and officials.

"As you carry the hopes and aspirations of millions of Nigerians, be assured of the support of the Federal Government, be patriotic, defend the green and white flag of Nigeria, fight for her pride and honour like the true soldiers and warriors that you are,ÔÇØ he added.

The three- time AFCON champions will reportedly depart Abuja today aboard a chartered flight for the football festival which is slated to run from January 9 to February 6 in Cameroon.
