Again, Obi hits Tinubu over forgery allegation, makes fresh demand

Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, has said President Bola Tinubu needs to regain the trust of Nigerians following his Chicago University certificate forgery allegation.

Obi further stressed that President Bola Tinubu owes Nigerians the moral duty to "personallyÔÇØ clarify the circumstances around his Chicago State University credentials.

The former Anambra governor declared that any leader, who chooses to serve the country, must earn public trust and obey the rule of law, as enshrined in the nation's Constitution.

Obi stated this on Tuesday shortly after paying tribute to the late former Minister of Internal Affairs during the Second Republic, Alhaji Bello Yusuf Maitama in Kano.

Obi maintained that a country must be built on the strength of character, integrity and trust on its leaders.

"For me, what is important is that leaders must earn public trust, and if you choose to serve the public, you must always avail yourself to explain to the public where issue of dispute arise, and you must do so personally. You can't outsource it. Because it is about you, it is you that people voted for,ÔÇØ Obi said.

He recently challenged Tinubu to re-introduce himself to the nation for avoidance of further doubt.

Obi claimed that the controversy around the President had prompted uninformed outsiders to view every Nigerian as a potential fraudster, forger or identity thief, adding that the development is unnecessary.
