Akwa Ibom: How 2 were killed as security operatives engaged hoodlums in gun duel

A Police officer and a suspected member of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have been reportedly killed during a gun battle between security operatives and some gunmen.

There was an alleged attempt to raze Divisional Police Headquarters in Ini local government area of Akwa Ibom state.

It was gathered that the gunmen invaded the area in the early hours of Sunday with sophisticated weapons conveyed on motorcycles.

Some eye witnesses said the operation which started about 4:30 am lasted for about thirty minutes when men of Quick Intervention Unit (QIU) with their counterpart from Ikot Ekpene Area Command arrived the scene.
