Alexander Isak reveals 'not everyone has the full picture' after record-breaking transfer from Newcastle United to Liverpool
Alexander Isak cryptically said "not everyone has the full picture" after his British record £125 million transfer from Newcastle United to Liverpool this summer. Isak was the big story throughout the summer, with the drama lasting right up until deadline day. The Sweden forward did not disclose too many details, but he was relieved he could return to "focusing on football".

Alexander Isak cryptically said "not everyone has the full picture" about his record-breaking move to Liverpool and revealed he learned a lot from the situation.
Isak was the chief protagonist of this summer's transfer window, with Premier League champions Liverpool making no secret of their plans to bring him from Newcastle United to Anfield.

A £110 million offer materialised and was rejected by Newcastle. Things between Isak and the club turned sour, with the Sweden forward making it clear he wanted the move to Liverpool.
Isak was left training on his own and Eddie Howe without a recognised No. 9 for the opening games of the Premier League season.

Newcastle reportedly tried to sign Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, Hugo Ekitike and Benjamin Sesko, but all four players opted to join Premier League rivals.

The transfer window clock was ticking down and it seemed Isak would be left in no man's land, and Howe would have to try and convince him to play for his side again.

Then there was finally a breakthrough, as Nick Woltemade joined The Magpies from Stuttgart for a club-record fee.

The dominoes started to fall, and Liverpool's deadline day British record offer of £125 million was accepted.

Isak, having had no pre-season, did not start Sweden's FIFA World Cup qualifying defeat to Kosovo, but he was still the man everyone wanted to talk to after such a tumultuous summer.

He told Swedish media: "Not everyone has the full picture but that's something for another day. I can't control everything that's said or written but I'm happy that I became a Liverpool player.
"It's great that everything was settled before the camp and that I could focus on playing football again.

"It's been a fairly new situation for me, but you always learn and develop mentally off the pitch as well."

Isak replaced Anthony Elanga, who joined Newcastle from Nottingham Forest this summer, after 72 minutes for his first competitive action of the season.
Despite his four shots in 18 minutes, he was unable to shift the momentum and Sweden dropped points for the second successive match, having drawn 2-2 against Slovenia on Friday.

Swedish fans will be hoping that Isak, new Arsenal signing Victor Gyokeres and Elanga can form a partnership that can carry them to next summer's World Cup, with the team currently third in Group B.
When asked why Isak did not play more of a role in the two matches, Sweden manager Jon Dahl Tomasson told Viaplay: "He had only done three training sessions with the team."

Isak will now return to Liverpool's AXA Training Centre, with his focus being on winning the starting spot from fellow new boy Hugo Ekitike, who has begun life at Liverpool with three goals in four games.

Liverpool resume their Premier League title defence against Burnley on Sunday, before Isak's potential home debut comes in the form of the Merseyside derby as Everton visit Anfield, a match which can be watched live on TNT Sports and discovery+.
