Amakama In Diaspora Donates Food Palliatives to 8 Communities |PHOTOS + VIDEO

A social cultural association Amakama in Diaspora have donated palliative items to the 8 Amakama Communities in Umuahia South LGA of Abia state.

Amakama in Diaspora as an association is made up good spirited men and women drawn from Amakama Communities in Umuahia South LGA of Abia state who are residing outside the shores of Nigeria.

This donation according to the association is necessary to cushion the negative effect and impact which the Lockdown is causing families due to the advent of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic.

The items donated to each of the 8 Amakama Communities includes 10 bags of rice and 10 bags of Beans. The association while handing over the items to the chairman of the palliative sharing committee Professor Ike Nwachukwu said the items is meant for every indigene of Amakama Community irrespective of their religious, cultural or political affiliation including those who are owing any Community levies as the case maybe.

While chairing the sharing of the palliative items at "Ahia Ama-Amakama " on Thursday 5th June 2020 the chairman of the palliative sharing committee Professor Ike Nwachukwu used the occasion to appreciate God for his grace and faithfulness over the years , he also appreciated the donor's who According to him are "our brothers and sisters living abroad who have seen the suffering those in the village are experiencing as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic ravaging nation's across the world " he called the gathering a celebration since all expenses related to the food materials have been paid for including the transportation fare incurred to bring the items to the village.

" It is noteworthy that our abroad brethren are determined to bring unity to their Community which is the reason why they insisted that the palliative items is for everybody without any form of discrimination on the basis of gender , religion or membership of Community association to mention but a few, my beloved brethren, what our Diaspora brethren are saying is that there is progress in unity , United we stand and divided we fall ".

While addressing the crowd that gathered to receive the items on behalf of the 8 village, Professor Ike Nwachukwu regretted the Continues litigation that has characterized activities and relationship in Amakama . He question what the benefit derived over the years from litigation is " let me make a special appeal today , as we carry this food items to share , let us resolve to bury the hatchet , resolve our differences and live as one United body while everyone should find something doing ".

Elder Onyenoru Moses Obizi While commenting, appreciated the donor's for remembering them at this period when families are passing through difficulties in finding something to eat.
