Amotekun Declares Oyo Free Of Fulani Killer Herdsmen

The Oyo State chapter of the Southwest States Security Network Agency codenamed 'Operation Amotekun', has declared the state free of Fulani killer herdsmen.

According to the State Commandant of the local security corps, Retired Col. Olayinka Olayanju, in a statement made available to newsmen on Monday, February 8, Ibarapaland which made news headlines a few days ago after activist, Sunday Adeyemo, a.k.a Sunday Igboho and his followers chased out Fulani from Igangan, is now safe.

Governor Seyi Makinde's led government had deployed 200 operatives of the Amotekun in Ibarapa Local Government Area of the state to restore peace following the crisis between Ibarapa residents and Fulani herdsmen.

The government said the corps will launch missions to rid the state of criminals. According to Makinde, the operatives will present to him daily reports of their activities to him after every operation.

Speaking in Ibadan on Monday, Olayanju said confidently that he would personally lead anyone interested in taking a tour of parts of Ibarapaland earlier hit by herders/farmers crisis. He assured that farmers and the law-abiding people in the area are now going about their daily businesses without molestation by any group.

He, however, faulted some audio and video that went viral on social media, which tend to raise what he called "clearly unfounded alarmsÔÇØ about the Ibarapa security situation.

He said: "I am in Aiyete and I've been moving around Ibarapaland freely, no one has reported any adverse security issue to me.
"No security challenges observed in Ibarapa Central and North contrary to rumours been peddled,ÔÇØ Olayanju stated.

Meanwhile, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has allegedly concluded the plan to dump the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP for another party ahead of 2023 general elections.

The development was confirmed to newsmen by a chieftain of the Nigeria opposition party who begged not to be mentioned to the public.
