Anambra: We'll arrest anyone forcing people to sit at home - Police

The Anambra State Police Command has said it will arrest anybody or group forcing residents to observe tomorrow's order to sit at home.

The spokesperson of Command, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, stated this in a chat with DAILY POST on the command's preparedness to contain elements of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), who have vowed to deal with anyone who ventures out tomorrow.
He said, "Any one that wants to attack anyone in the guise of any group shall be arrested and made to face the law.

"We're encouraged by the support we have gotten from the citizens, especially Ndi Anambra and urge them to sustain it. For quick responses to incidents or reports, they can use emergency line 112 or my number 08039334002.

"We are not deterred by the speculations (enforcement of shutdown), but the Command is concentrating on our mandate in protecting life and properties. Just like any other day, we shall continue to maintain law and order.

Nnamdi Kanu, leader of IPOB, had in a Saturday night broadcast threatened to order the groups' security arm, ESN, to leave the bushes and come to the town to enforce the sit-at-home order.
