APC Behind Disintegration of PDP, Labour Party, HURIWA Alleges | READ HOW

The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu of deliberately fueling the internal crises within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP) in a bid to weaken political opposition. HURIWA likened the APC's alleged tactics to authoritarian governance, similar to China's communist regime.

In a strongly worded statement signed by its National Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko, HURIWA alleged that the APC has been working behind the scenes to sabotage internal democracy within the two major opposition parties. The group claimed that the ruling party is sowing discord in both PDP and LP to tighten its grip on power and ensure that the opposition remains divided and ineffective.

Citing the appointment of former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, a prominent PDP member, as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria pointed to this as part of the APC's wider scheme to destabilize the PDP. The group questioned Wike's loyalty to the PDP, claiming his collaboration with the APC-led administration raises doubts about his commitment to the opposition.

HURIWA further alleged that the APC is backing Labour Party's National Chairman, Julius Abure, to retain his position despite legal challenges, accusing the ruling party of propping up Abure to undermine Peter Obi's growing influence.

"The APC is using Julius Abure to cripple the Labour Party, ensuring that the party does not pose a significant threat in future elections, especially as Peter Obi gains increasing popularity," HURIWA stated.

Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria also condemned what it called the APC's "weaponization of poverty," accusing the administration of implementing policies that impoverish Nigerians and make them reliant on government handouts. The rights group warned that the APC's actions are setting the stage for a communist-like regime where citizens are dependent on the state, stifling their ability to resist government control.
