Appeal Court Orders Yahaya Bello to Appear for Arraignment

The Court of Appeal has mandated Yahaya Bello to appear for arraignment concerning alleged financial mismanagement during his tenure as Kogi State Governor. The court has overturned a prior ruling and restricted Bello's actions in the case.

The Court of Appeal has directed Yahaya Bello, the immediate past Governor of Kogi State, to present himself for arraignment. The court's ruling, issued on Tuesday, mandates that Bello must appear in court to face charges related to alleged financial misappropriation during his tenure.

The Court of Appeal has also nullified a previous judgment from the Kogi State High Court that had impacted the case. Additionally, the court has imposed a restriction on Bello, preventing him from taking further actions concerning the charges until he is formally arraigned.

Bello's whereabouts have been a subject of concern since the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) attempted to arrest him at his Abuja residence several months ago. Governor Usman Ododo had intervened during the EFCC's raid, thwarting their efforts to apprehend Bello.

The EFCC is prosecuting Bello for alleged mismanagement of over N80 billion during his eight years as governor of Kogi State.
