Appeal Court Upholds Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere's Victory | READ DETAILS
A court of appeal sitting in Lagos state, has upheld the victory of Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, member representing Ideato North and South Federal Constituency of Imo State.

Recall that an election petition tribunal had sacked Ugochinyere on the grounds that his party, the PDP did not conduct primary election to elect him as their candidate.

The panel which delivered the judgement on September 10th, ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to conduct a rerun election in 4 Wards between APC and LP candidates.
However, the appeal Court panel led by Justice Abubakar Babandi Gumel on Wednesday, November 8, set aside the ruling of the Tribunal.

Gumel held that the petition was a pre-election matter and as such, the tribunals lacked jurisdiction over pre-election matters.
