Arsenal have been linked with a late move to sign Aston Villa forward Morgan Rogers, while Nottingham Forest are set to miss out on Manchester City defender Rico Lewis. Elsewhere, Newcastle have reportedly failed in a bid to prise Yoane Wissa away from Brentford, and West Ham are looking to sign Mateus Fernandes from Southampton, who might also lose Tyler Dibling before the window shuts.

Arsenal keen on Villa star Rogers

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Aston Villa forward Morgan Rogers, with The Sun reporting they are keen on the 23-year-old.

Villa, however, are keen to retain the player, who has already broken into the England setup and won the PFA Young Player of the Year award on Tuesday.

The paper writes: "Arsenal are weighing up a dramatic swoop for Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers.

"Rogers, 23, would offer high quality and great versatility with his ability to play across all four advanced positions in boss Mikel Arteta's preferred formation.

"Arteta personally congratulated Rogers when he received his PFA Young Player of the Year award in Manchester on Tuesday night.

Lewis set to turn down Forest

Rico Lewis is now poised to turn down a move to Nottingham Forest after agreeing a new contract with Manchester City.

Forest had been keen on the versatile 20-year-old, but he will reportedly not follow James McAtee to the City Ground.

The Mirror states: "Rico Lewis is set to snub Nottingham Forest and sign a new contract with Manchester City. Forest had made an official approach to City for the versatile defender last week, but he has now decided to stay put.

"The 20-year-old defender came through the City academy and has made 95 appearances for the club. He has been nurtured by Pep Guardiola, who has fielded him in a variety of positions, and played 44 times last season.

"Forest tried to tempt the full-back by offering to double his wages at the City Ground after signing his team-mate James McAtee for £25 million."

Brentford yet to name price for Wissa

Newcastle's most recent bid for Yoane Wissa was turned down by Brentford, with an initial £35 million offer plus add-ons deemed insufficient.

The news comes after the Alexander Isak saga took a fresh turn on Tuesday evening, with Newcastle releasing a statement refuting their striker's social media post.

The Athletic reports that Brentford have not even indicated to Newcastle a figure that they would consider acceptable.

The website explains: "Newcastle United have seen an improved bid for forward Yoane Wissa rejected by Brentford.

"The proposal was worth £35 million plus £5m in difficult-to-achieve add-ons but turned down.

"Brentford sources, speaking on the condition of anonymity as they were not authorised to discuss the situation, have stressed that the club have not provided a target price to any team.
