AU Suspends Gabon As Junta Fixes Date To Swear In Transitional President | READ MORE
The African Union (AU's) Peace and Security Council on Thursday, announced the suspension of Central African Country, Gabon, following the military take over in the country.

After a meeting of it's Peace and Security Council, chaired by its Commissioner for Political Affairs Bankole Adeoye and the current holder of the council's rotating chair, Burundi's Nyamitwe, the AU said it decided to "suspend the participation of Gabon in all activities of its organs and institutionsÔÇØ.

That notwithstanding, the Junta will on Monday, September 4, inaugurate its leader, General Brice Nguema as Gabon's transitional president.

According to the junta's Spokesman, Col. Ulrich Manfoumbi, the swearing-in will take place at the constitutional court.

Recall that the military took over on Monday, annulling the Saturday, August 26 election that re-elected Ali Bongo for the third term.

In another development, Gabon's main opposition, the Alternance 2023 coalition, wants the coup leaders to declare it as the winner of Saturday's disputed presidential election.
