President Muhammadu Buhari has the right to continue seeking medical care overseas, his aide Lauretta Onochie has stated.

She was reacting to criticism of the President's medical checkup in London amid the ongoing nationwide strike of resident doctors.

Many Nigerians have berated Buhari for not investing in healthcare, saying he would have been treated back home had he done that.

His presence at the Abuja House in London has been rocked with protests by some Nigerians in the UK.

Reacting to the criticism and protests, Onochie said nobody can take away Buhari's right to his physicians of over 40 years.

She tweeted: "Next year, Pres. @MBuhari will go for a routine checkup.

"We have been here since 2016. It's been the same wailing. So the response will also be the same.

"At least, once a year, people across the world see their personal doctors especially one they have seen for about 40 years.
"@MBuhari won't dump his doctor of about 40 years so that wailers can be happy. That's blackmail. Thankfully, he doesn't pay blackmailers.
