BABY FACTORY: "Rescued Girls Will Be RehabilitatedÔÇØ - Mrs. Otti Reveals | SEE PHOTOS

The First Lady of Abia State, Mrs. Priscilla Otti, yesterday visited the 21 young pregnant girls rescued from a Baby Factory at Umunkpei Nvosi, in Isialangwa South LGA of Abia State on Sunday 4th June 2023.

Speaking to the press during a visit at Madonna College of Health Technology, Olokoro where the young pregnant girls were being cared for, Mrs. Otti assured that measures were being taken to rehabilitate and reintegrate the girls into the society so as to assist them live a decent life.

The First Lady expressed shock and sadness that some persons could be so heartless to subject innocent vulnerable young girls to such dehumanising treatment and assured that the Alex Otti led government would do everything within its powers, including partnering with Churches and Charity Homes to ensure that Abia girls and children will not suffer such experience under the present government in Abia state.

Baring his mind while receiving the wife of the Governor to the college, the Provost of Madonna College of Health Technology, Olokoro, Rev. Fr. Christian Anokwuru explained that the girls were brought in by representatives of the state government and security agents after they were rescued at Umunkpei Nvosi in Isialangwa South LGA of the state, and disclosed that the total number of pregnant ones brought to them were 20.

It would be recalled that the military had on Sunday morning invaded the facility strategically located at Umumkpeyi Nvosi in Isialangwa South LGA where a Baby Factory was being operated and alerted Abia state government who swiftly swung into action and ensured the rescue and evacuation of the girls and two little babies.

The girls numbering 21 were initially taken to School of Nursing Amachara, but due to the strike action embarked on by the staff, there weren't enough hands to take care of them, which was why they were taken to Madonna College of Health Technology where they were counselled, fed and properly taken care of by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Vulnerable Groups and Poverty Alleviation, Mrs. Ifeoma Thomas in conjunction with the hospital.

One of the girls who had severe contraction while they were at School of Nursing and was handed over to the Nurses to care for has now been delivered of a baby girl.

Two persons were arrested by the military in connection with the Baby Factory while the owner and operator, one Mma Charity Lilian Achumba is on the run.
