Bill Seeking To Upgrade Mobile Forces Training Camp In Borno, Passes Second Reading
The Nigerian Senate has considered a bill seeking to upgrade the existing Mobile Forces training camp in Monkara, Borno State to a Special Forces Training Academy.

The bill was titled : A bill for an Act to Establish the Nigerian Police Special Forces and the Nigeria Police Special Forces Training Schools and its Governing Council and for other related matters therewith, 2022.

The piece of legislation, sponsored by Senator Ali Ndume scaled second reading on the floor during plenary.

Senator Ndume, in his lead debate, said there is no Special Forces Training Centre in the country and with the present security challenges, there is need for the creation of a Special Forces Training School.
Senator Ali Ndume added that the existing training camp is an idea of the Police which is not backed by law.

In supporting the passage of the bill, a cross section of lawmakers during Tuesday's plenary said that the Nigerian Police deserves all the support that is needed to improve the security architecture of the country.

The bill was referred by the Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege who Presided over Tuesday's Session after consideration to the Committee on Police Affairs.

The Committee was also given four week to report back to the Senate.

Meanwhile, a bill seeking to establish Nigeria Agricultural Harvest and Processing Free Zone Atanganyi, Benue State on Tuesday also passed second reading in the Senate.

The bill was sponsored by Senator Abba Moro
