The police had earlier declared Monyama who resides at Monageng Street, Cyferskuil, close to Makapanstad missing after she was not found on Sunday March 5, 2023 when she went to watch soccer at a nearby field.

Her remains was however found on Wednesday March 8 which led to the arrest of the said boyfriend who has now been charged with murder, perjury and defeating the ends of justice.

According to the police, the suspect is expected to appear in court on Friday, March 10.

The police statement read;

UPDATE - The body of 15-year-old Karabo Monyama was discovered on Wednesday, 8 March 2023, buried in a shallow grave in the backyard of her 23-year-old boyfriend. The boyfriend was arrested on the same day and he was charged for cases of murder, perjury and defeating the ends of justice. He is expected to appear in the Moretele Magistrates' Court on Friday, 10 March 2023.

The police in Cyferskuil request the community's assistance in locating #missing Karabo Monyama (15), who is residing at Monageng Street, Cyferskuil, close to Makapanstad. According to information received, she was last seen on Sunday, 05 March 2023, at about 13:00 when she left home to watch soccer at a nearby field. However, she never returned back home. A search was conducted around the neighbourhood and Cyferskuil precinct without any success.

During her disappearance, she was wearing a white crop top, green mini skirt and black Adidas sneakers. She is light in complexion with a slim body structure and black hair.
