Renowned telecom entrepreneur and Abia elder statesman, Chief Dr. David Ogba Onuoha Bourdex, MFR, OON, delivered a moving tribute to Governor Alex Otti at the "Promise Kept Carnival" hosted by the Aba business community, describing Otti's leadership as the "resurrection of Aba from political and infrastructural darkness."

Bourdex, speaking to a cheering crowd at Umuagbai Secondary School, Port Harcourt Road in Aba, declared that the reconstruction of Port Harcourt Road symbolized more than road repair-it marked the return of truth, leadership, and the rebirth of dreams for the Enyimba City.

"This is not just about the completion of a road," he said, pausing for effect. "It is about the restoration of hope, the rekindling of dreams, and the confirmation that promises made can indeed become promises kept."

The event, attended by leading industrialists, political stakeholders, and cultural icons, was organized to appreciate Governor Otti's successful reconstruction of the once impassable Port Harcourt Road-abandoned for over 30 years by successive governments.

"From Hustle to Empire: Aba Made Me" - Bourdex
Bourdex recounted his roots as an Aba-born entrepreneur who rose through grit and hustle to establish Bourdex Telecom and the Bourdex Group, attributing his foundation to the spirit and resilience of Aba.

"I walked these streets as a young entrepreneur... It was Aba that nurtured Bourdex Telecom. It was Aba that taught me resilience. And now, under your [Gov. Otti's] leadership, Aba is rising again like a phoenix from the ashes."
Bourdex, who previously served as Mayor under Otti's current government structure, said the event was not just a civic celebration, but a loud vote of confidence on a government that has delivered tangible results.
He criticized past administrations who, according to him, mocked Aba with deceitful projects and broken promises.

In a passionate appeal to the people of Abia, Bourdex warned against nostalgia for failed governments and urged citizens to protect the current progress and resist any attempt to drag Aba back into the "mud of misrule."

"Let us amplify this vision, protect the progress, and never return to the darkness from whence we came."
He praised Governor Otti's integrity, saying that the current administration was a living proof that truth in leadership is still possible in Nigeria.

"You have shown that integrity in politics is not a myth-it is a mandate," Bourdex declared, drawing thunderous applause from the crowd.

Bourdex ended his speech with poetic resonance, declaring that the transformation of Aba would echo in history, not for noise, but for "noble purpose and proof."

"As the asphalt glistens under Aba's noon sun... greatness has returned home-not with promises, but with proof. The footsteps of history will echo louder now... because a builder came and laid foundations that time cannot shake."
The "Promise Kept Carnival" was graced by top Abia leaders, including Senator Darlington Nwokocha, Speaker Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa, members of the Aba Landlord Association, business icons such as Chief Leo Nnodi Okoye, Chief Alphonsus Odigbo, and Ide John Udeagba, who chaired the occasion.

They described the event as a celebration of restoration, affirming that with what Otti has achieved within two years, "his re-election campaign is already complete."
The Convener of the carnival, Chief Onyeka Ernest Udeajah, said Aba has witnessed a turnaround that could only be described as divine, while Mr. Chukwuma Azodo, State Chairman of the Cooperative Motor Union, declared that Port Harcourt Road has now become a symbol of legendary leadership.
